Player Code of Conduct

Introduction. CODE OF CONDUCT: Welcome to Reading XL FC. We are dedicated to supporting overweight men on their journey to improve fitness and health through football. Our club is built on principles of respect, inclusivity, and sportsmanship. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected of all members to ensure a positive and supportive environment both on and off the pitch. General Conduct. • Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all members, opponents, officials, and spectators with respect, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ability. • Sportsmanship: Uphold the spirit of the game by playing fairly and promoting a positive, team-oriented atmosphere. • Commitment: Attend training sessions and matches regularly, and inform coaches or team managers in advance if you are unable to attend. • Health and Safety: Prioritise your health and safety, as well as that of others. Report any injuries or health concerns to the coaching staff immediately. • Fair Play: Actively promote fair play at all times. Conduct on the Pitch. • Punctuality: Arrive on time for training sessions, matches, and any club meetings. • Effort and Attitude: Give your best effort in all activities, maintain a positive attitude, and encourage teammates. • Fair Play: Abide by the rules of the game, respect referees’ decisions, and avoid aggressive or dangerous play. • Equipment: Wear appropriate football gear, including shin pads, and ensure your equipment is in good condition. • Post Match: Win or lose with dignity. Shake hands with the opposing team and the referee at the end of each game. Conduct off the Pitch. • Representation: Remember that you represent Reading XL FC at all times. Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects positively on the club. • Behaviour: Avoid any form of behavior that could bring the club into disrepute, including abusive language, physical altercations, and inappropriate conduct on social media. • Support: Encourage and support fellow club members in their weight loss and fitness journey. Celebrate each other's achievements and offer help when needed. Coaches, Team Managers and Club Officials. • Respect: Show respect to others involved in the game including match officials, opposition players, coaches, managers, officials and spectators • Laws: Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game and respect the match official’s decision • Behaviour: Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive or abusive language or behavior • Result: Be gracious in victory and defeat. Social Media Conduct. • Respect: Use social media to promote the club positively. Do not post any content that could be considered offensive, discriminatory, or harmful to the club or its members. • Confidentiality: Do not share any private or sensitive information about the club or its members without consent. • Positivity: Share encouraging and motivational content that aligns with the club’s mission of health and fitness. Anti-Discrimination and Inclusion. • Zero Tolerance: The club operates a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying. • Inclusivity: Ensure that everyone feels welcome and valued within the club. Work together to create an inclusive environment for all members. • Equality: Follow our Equality Code in relation to our Kick It Out chartered club declaration. Health and Fitness Commitment. • Goals: Set personal fitness and weight loss goals in consultation with the club’s coaching and support staff. • Participation: Actively participate in fitness activities and follow guidance provided by coaches and support staff. • Healthy Lifestyle: Adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and regular exercise, as part of your commitment to the club’s ethos. • Mental Health: Actively seek assistance through our club partnerships whenever necessary. Drug and Alcohol Policy (see appendix v1 for full policy). • Zero Tolerance: The club has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol • Awareness: All members must be aware of and understand this policy. Ignorance is not an excuse for violations. • Responsibility: Each member is responsible for their own actions and for upholding the standards set forth in this Code of Conduct. Disciplinary Procedures. • Reporting: Any breaches of this Code of Conduct should be reported to the club's committee members. • Investigation: All reported breaches will be investigated fairly and promptly. • Consequences: Disciplinary actions may include warnings, suspension, or expulsion from the club, depending on the severity of the breach. Drug & Alcohol Policy - Appendix V1

Introduction. Reading XL FC is committed to promoting a healthy and supportive environment for all members. This Code of Conduct outlines the club’s policy on drug and alcohol use during social events, training sessions, and match days. Adherence to this policy is crucial in maintaining the safety, well-being, and integrity of our club. General Conduct. • Zero Tolerance: The club has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol. • Awareness: All members must be aware of and understand this policy. Ignorance is not an excuse for violations. • Responsibility: Each member is responsible for their own actions and for upholding the standards set forth in this Code of Conduct. Conduct During Social Events. • Moderation: If alcohol is consumed at a club-sanctioned social event, members are expected to dink responsibly and in moderation. • Illegal Substances: The use or possession of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at all club social events. • Behaviour: Members must conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the club, avoiding disruptive or offensive behaviour. Conduct During Training Sessions. • Sobriety: Members must attend training sessions free from the influence of drugs or alcohol. • Fitness and Safety: Participating in training while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited as it compromises safety and performance. • Support: If a member is struggling with substance abuse, they are encouraged to seek help and support from the club or relevant health services. Conduct During Match Days. • Pre-Match: Members must not consume alcohol or drugs before or during matches. • In-Game: Any member found under the influence of drugs or alcohol during a match will be immediately removed from the game and may face disciplinary action. • Post-Match: While moderate alcohol consumption after a match is permissible, members should behave responsibly and maintain the club’s standards of conduct. Disciplinary Procedures. • Reporting Violations: Any breaches of this policy should be reported to the club's committee. • Investigation: All reported violations will be investigated promptly and fairly. • Consequences: Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions including warnings, suspension, or expulsion from the club, depending on the severity of the breach. Support and Rehabilitation. • Support Systems: The club encourages members struggling with substance abuse to seek support. Confidential assistance may be provided to those who request it. • Rehabilitation: Members who voluntarily seek help for drug or alcohol issues will be supported in their rehabilitation efforts and may continue to participate in club activities upon demonstrating commitment to recovery. Club Representation. • Role Models: Members are expected to be role models within the community, promoting healthy and positive behaviours while representing the club. • Ambassadors: Always represent the club with dignity and respect, both on and off the field while acting in or with club stakeholders. Our policy is designed to ensure that every member, participant, and visitor to our club is given equal opportunities and is free from discrimination, harassment, or any form of unfair treatment. Scope. This policy applies to all members, players, coaches, staff, volunteers, spectators, and anyone associated with XLFC. Our Commitment to Equality. • To promote equality of opportunity within our club. • To eliminate discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected characteristic. • To foster a culture of inclusion and respect where differences are valued. • To ensure that our policies and practices are fair, transparent, and actively promote equality. Legal Framework. XLFC adheres to all relevant equality legislation, including but not limited to: • The Equality Act 2010 • The Human Rights Act 1998 • Relevant football governing body regulations and guidelines Responsibilities. • Committee and Leadership: Responsible for implementing this policy and ensuing that equality is promoted in all aspects of the club's activities. • Coaches and Staff: Must model inclusive behavior and ensure that training and activities are accessible to all. Expected to uphold the values of equality and respect in their interactions within the club. • Members and Participants: Expected to uphold the values of equality and respect in their interactions within the club. Actions. • Training: Providing regular equality and diversity training for all staff and volunteers. • Communication: Ensuring that the equality policy is communicated effectively to all members and stakeholders. • Access: Making reasonable adjustments to facilities and activities to ensure they are accessible to everyone. • Reporting and Monitoring: Establishing a clear process for reporting and addressing incidents of discrimination or harassment. Regularly reviewing practices to ensure compliance with equality objectives. Reporting and Complaints. XLFC takes all complaints of discrimination and harassment seriously. Any individual who believes they have been treated unfairly or discriminated against should report the incident to the Equality Lead or a member of the club committee. Monitoring and Review. This policy will be monitored regularly and reviewed annually by the committee to ensure it remains effective and up-to-date with current legislation and best practices. Conclusion.
